Why would we want the State, and agent that promotes violence and theft and murder as a matter of practice, to manage our health care?
The latest example: A mother in New Jersey was told that she should have a c-section. She said no. The baby was delivered (without complications) and then promptly taken by the State.
It’s gone to court. The court sided against the mother. The baby is still in foster care. This is through the New York Times :
But now comes news that a New Jersey court has, under this same theory, ordered a child (identified in court papers as V.M.G.) to remain in foster care, where she has apparently been for two years, initially because her mother (V.M.) refused a C-section while in labor and demonstrated “combative and erratic behavior.”
Doctors thought the C-section was necessary; the laboring mother did not. As it happens, she was right, because the baby was born vaginally, and healthy. But the court has upheld the original petition by the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services (NJDYF) that the mother “abused and neglected” her child.
Some great thoughts on the story from Momlogic.com:
How is this legal?
A New Jersey appellate court has upheld the shocking ruling, and custody has been given to the child’s foster parents.
The court’s decision cites hospital records that describe the mother, V.M., as “combative,” “uncooperative,” “erratic,” “noncompliant,” “irrational” and “inappropriate.” That’s how we acted during labor, too … but our babies weren’t taken away, thank God.
The court opinion also focuses on the fact that the mother had been in psychiatric care for twelve years prior to the birth. But, as the Huffington Post points out, her psychiatric state would never have been questioned if the mother had not refused invasive abdominal surgery — which was entirely within her rights.
How is it legal? The State says what’s legal and what is not legal. They do it all the time. In the end, it’s an arbitrary system managed by the Political Class, for the exclusive benefit of the Political Class. And the more government we get, the more stories like this will become commonplace.
We can look forward to more of this sort of health care as the State continues to further Socialize the medical industry, and micro-manage personal health and behavior like the good little fascists they are.
FLASHBACK: Just three months ago we heard the story from the UK about the newborn baby was a victim of the socialized medical system in that country, and left to die. Why? Because the baby decided to be born 2 days too soon.
You see, in the UK, the State says that a baby is only a person at 22 weeks gestation. The baby was born 2 days before the 22 week gestation period. Because the doctors are only permitted to treat persons as defined by the State, they refused the baby any treatment.
From an article on that in The Daily Mail:
Miss Capewell, 23, said doctors refused to even see her son Jayden, who lived for almost two hours without any medical support.
She said he was breathing unaided, had a strong heartbeat and was even moving his arms and legs, but medics refused to admit him to a special care baby unit.
…
In fact, the medical guidelines for Health Service hospitals state that babies should not be given intensive care if they are born at less than 23 weeks.
So the State says that you get regular treatment at 22 weeks. You get intensive treatment at 23 weeks. The State is a monster.
Again, would we want the State, and agent that promotes violence and theft and murder as a matter of practice, to manage our health care? Is it because they promise security? I don’t call stealing people’s children “security.” And I sure as hell don’t call leaving babies to die “security,” let alone health care.
