It’s official! THE SAVIOR MACHINE is an ArtPrize entry

THE SAVIOR MACHINE, by Daniel La Ponsie is an ArtPrize entry.

Yesterday the artist / venue matching began for ArtPrize 2010. That morning Daniel and Emily, manager of RiverFront Cafe, logged in to their receptive accounts and made their artist / venue relationship official.
There was much rejoicing. Or there would have been, but Emily needed to tend to the customers.

No one would deny that a book is art. And yet, Daniel has received a great of this reaction: can you enter a book into an art contest?
Daniel responds with: “Why not?”
And so while some literary venues, like Schuler Books, are looking for “pieces with a connection to reading/literacy,” Daniel is submitting … (dramatic pause) … a book.
Is it too obvious? A book is in fact art. We know this. But yet we don’t reflect it in our language. We talk about music and literature … and then we talk about art; as if these things are wildly separated.
Perhaps Daniel’s ArtPrize entry will challenge this view we have. Art isn’t relegated to canvas and sculpture.

A huge thank you to RiverFront Cafe for being a willing and helpful venue.
